I am an artist living in the Pacific Northwest. Currently, I am painting watercolor batiks on rice paper. Paint is first applied to the rice paper. Some areas are blocked out with paraffin wax and the wax is then ironed off between layers of newspaper. The edges of the painting are deckled (torn). The result is a vividly colored, beautifully textured painting. I began painting birds (notably roosters). Other paintings depict butterflies, flowers, landscapes, and townscapes. Although my paintings are based on reality, my intentions typically morph due to the flow of the paint and the application of wax. I have always found creativity rewarding. Lately, painting has become an essential part of my life.
